Flame warWSC vapourware sceptics challenged ahead of West announcement

Douglas Ellison named people who had called WSC vapourware, expecting them to back-pedal. Sceptics replied that nothing had shipped and the Wests had cancelled projects before, and redTed exchanged insults with Gerry Aitken. Jokes followed about space sims and the site's 404 car.

We're not wrong, yet. The Wests have stopped development on a game prior to WSC. Using their past as a reference point, it's not out of the question that what was started as WSC may not be released. If they have to "start over" from scratch because of code licensing, then I would consider those folks vindicated.
>I would consider those folks vindicated. Or - alternatively - that they were always wrong because despite what Empire has thrown at them they've come thru regardless? Doug

Unless Papy are working on something we don't know about, fans of true racing sims wanting something different from Nascar seem to only have WSC on the (hopefully not too!) distant horizon. Tony

That sure was a quick Google search. Now go back and try reading some of them properly.

So, there was a playable preview at LAST year's E3, but nothing this year ? That doesn't strike anyone as being slightly odd ?" Whilst not out right statements of assuming it's vapourware - you can NOT deny that you've thrown mud at the project like the others in the list with you. DOug

Hehe, nice one! Maybe that motley craw can have a mass-debate, amongst themselves, about how they got it so wrong? <G> They read like a bunch of mass-debaters on google. LOL! Gerry

No need, because I remember the rubbish you came out with, without having to go and look it up.

There's not even going to be a playable demo at Goodwood which must be a backward step, eh? I think they must be working on the 'low grav' unit and the hermetically sealed ports. Also the thrusters and retros 'cause time this sim gets released we'd have conquered space travel:) Ah, I get it now - IT'S A SPACE SIM! hahaha Alan

I know that I've been looking forward to this game for a long time. I still hold out hope that it not only sees the light of day, but meets expectations. None of us want to see this thing shelved, but once bitten twice shy.

What about a list of the faithful? As for the people on the list; I want to see you all here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/The_GPL_Church/ on Sunday, without fail!! Rev. GD Aitken Luke 11:23 He that is not with WSC is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
I'd love to be proved wrong, but I'm not holding my breath just yet. It has just been way to many let downs all ready to get to worked up. Right now I'd still be skeptical if there would even be a CD in the box if I saw it in a store shelf. MadDAWG

You were very negative about the West's and WSC without having anything to backup what you were saying. The only thing you could have said with any degree of accuracy back then was that WSC wasn't in the shops, there was no demo and no release date! No change there then! As for me being a 'moron' and an 'arselicker', well, I'll just treat those comments, and you, with the contempt that they, and you, deserve. Now, I don't normally stop talking to someone in mid sentence, but in your case I'll m

It wasn't funny then, and it's not funny now. Get a new routine, creep
Just for the fun of it, I tried to enter www.west-racing.com/forum and got a race car with a number "404" painted on the side... a lot better than getting the usual generic "404" error page ;) Douglas Ellison wrote:

Why are we even bothering with this topic? After all, we all KNOW that 'somebody' is going to fire up WSC when it finally sees the light of day and the first thing they will do is click on the 'drive outside the car by remote control whilst hanging 10 or so feet above and behind the car' button? Doncha all know that will just ruin it for EVERYONE????????????????? dave henrie

What any sane racer would do; 1. look in segway.vehicle file for: allow speed limiter = 1 change to: allow speed limiter = 0 2. Fire it up and head for the Ring! ;-) SB "The Black Cat =^..^=" <[email hidden]> wrote... <snip> BTW, what will you all do if Day 0 brings a Segway? :)
