Thank you, Mark Cuban!!
If you have DirectTV AND a hi-definition receiver/TV, CART's qualifying on
Friday and Saturday will be broadcast in HDTV on Channel 199 (HD NET)
http://www.hd.net/schedule_today.html
I HOPE they use real digital cameras and not analog cameras w/scalers. The
difference is noticeable. Even my wife (a techno-phobe) can tell the
difference. If they use digital cameras, the picture quality should be
superb and the sound is Dolby Digital 5.1.
Mark Cuban, the owner of HD NET and the Dallas Mavericks, is really try to
get HDTV on its feet. This is fantastic!!

Boy, do I wish Time-Warner would get off of their collective lazy asses and start supporting this. Here in Austin, we only have _2_ channels available in HD, and even then, you have to wait for 4 month months just to get their shitty HD receiver box.
Seriously considering dumping this AOL-whore company and nailing my Sony DSS system back to the side of the house...

This is fantastic!!I love my DSS. I now get four HDTV channels:
HD NET - just superb quality pictures and sound
HBO-HD - most stuff is 'upscaled' to HDTV. Some are filmed with true
digital cameras such as "The Mind of the Married Man" - nudity never looked
better ... :-)
SHO-HD - I just got this as DirectTV just provided it. Seems similar to
HBO-HD
CBS - Primetime in hi-def. "Jag", "Everybody Loves Raymond" and such in
16x9 hi-def. Two years ago I watched the Super Bowl in HDTV. It was
unbelievable. When I show CBS to friends they are blown away that I am
receiving this signal locally through rabbit ears. The picture is
unbelievable.
soon will be ABC and FOX locally, but I don't believe any shows are being
recorded digitally like the CBS shows are.
BTW, I have two HDTV systems in my house. I have an RCA digital TV coupled
with my RCA DTC100. In my home theater, I have a Hughes feeding into my
data grade Marquee 8500 projector which projects onto an 8' screen. I also
have a computer connected for flight and racing sims. The projector is
designed exactly for this and looks tremendous.
