3 days ago, I had a slight brain failure, and bought N2002. It must have been a brain failure, 'cause I don't like ovals, I have and old PIII600, and have driven N4 online a year ago. I am a die hard GPL-er. I bought N4, as I was told that the physics was good. And it was, indeed. I raced online for 6 weeks. Then I returned to GPL. I blame the brain failure for me buying N2002 three days ago, in spite of me having decided long time ago *not* to buy that game. I saw no reason at all to support another game running mostly left handers. Besides, my online experience in N4 wasn't very positive. To my frustration, N2002 online crowd seems to be of the same quality as the N4 online crowd. Most ppl are nice, but there are a few loudmouths around, overshadowing the decent racers. Not to mention those who enters races with one ambition only: Wreck as many as possible. During races, a crash usually occurs before the race starts, or just after the flag drops because of jump starters. Then the flaming begins, and lasts forever. As if anybody cared. Why can't ppl take their disagreements outside? The flaming is of no importance for anyone except those parcticipating Why disturb other ppls races with complaining? Of course, those caught up in the in it. For the rest of us, the flaming is just disturbing and annoying. Of course, a few of those caught up in the mess yells for a restart, which they will not get. Still they keep yelling, disturbing those still on track. Why is there such a huge difference between GPL and Nascar crouds? In GPL, most racers use their real names. In Nascar sims, the only persons using their real names are GPL-ers. Nascar racers uses nicks like: "A$$Phuckers", "Wreckmaker", "aDHeSiVe202-ApT" etc. Nicks that I normally would regard as passwords rather than names. I guess this is a part of the problem. When using some silly nick, you wear a camouflage. It is easy yelling at someone when you are not recogniseable. Yelling and silly nicks is more apparent in Nascar racing than in GPL. Why using silly nicks anyhow? If I were Osama bin Laden or George Bush Jr, I sure would use another name. But for the rest of us, that presumably have done no harm to anyone: Why use a nick? We could use our real names, and noone would know who we really were, anyhow. I have been rearended at superspeedways. That amazes me. All you have to do to prevent a crash at superspeedways, is lifting off. It seems that lift off has a different meaning in Nascar racing. You don't lift off the throttle. You keep the pedal to the metal, ramming the poor guy in front.... and we have a lift off. Another racer put into orbit. Jon Andersen, using the nick Jon Andersen of GPL in N2002
The only time you will get a decent pickup race is before 7pm UK time or 3 EST on weekdays, after that the kiddies come out of school and ruin nearly every single race. Forget SS racing as well. -- __________ Steve "Jon Andersen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:PVe09.1991$[email hidden]... > 3 days ago, I had a slight brain failure, and bought N2002. > Why is there such a huge difference between GPL and Nascar crouds? A couple of years ago there were plenty of similar idiots in GPL online races. I can't remember the guy's name anymore but one guy was infamous for taking out entire races by running backward. These jerks have mostly gotten tired of GPL and moved on; that type of person has a very short attention span. N2002 is fairly new so these guys are still picking it up off store shelves. The answer to this problem in N2002 is the same as in GPL: the only reliable way to avoid idiots and wreckers is to join a league. Idiots are a risk you take with pickup races. Sucks, but that's life.

Get over it,it has been this way since the demise of TEN, nothing is going to change...Sierra could care less, so Get over it!
>Jon Andersen" <[email hidden]> wrote > Why is there such a huge difference between GPL and Nascar crouds? Sorry, but you'll find the same thing in an online pickup race on VROC, especially at Monza (the Talladega of GPL). It's in the leagues that you'll find the real racers. Pickup racing died when the NROS closed. > I have been rearended at superspeedways. That amazes me. While I can understand what you are saying, it really is not that bad. Sure the pickup races are going to suck 9 out of 10 times with N2002, but I can assure that pickup races on VROC with GPL were just as bad at times. I guess you have to take what you can get and expect to be sent to the infield care center in most pickup races. The way around this as always is to find a league and hope for the best. Stopping the mindless chat is as easy as a few mouse clicks or a well placed piece of tape . Unfortunately there are going to be morons in any game you play online, N2002 and GPL ar not immune, take a deep breath, join a league and try and have a little fun. I also recently made the change Jon. I was fortunate enough to bump into an old GPL mate who got me into a Friday league. Nicer bunch of guys you couldn't ask to meet. The Saturday RASCAR crowd are also a good bunch - any groaning takes place here and not on the track ;) Then there's the Monday FFRL (Greger, Roland et al). I've only done one off season race with them so far but the atmosphere is great. In short - hang in there and find a league. I wouldn't have believed it but there's some serious fun to be had with this left-handed stuff :) Regards "Jon Andersen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:PVe09.1991$[email hidden]... > 3 days ago, I had a slight brain failure, and bought N2002. In ranked races it's not so bad as in the 0-10 races ;-) There are LPI-filtered servers as well. /Carl "Jon Andersen" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:PVe09.1991$[email hidden]... > 3 days ago, I had a slight brain failure, and bought N2002. One might expect a "simulation" to mirror the real world as closley as possible. With that in mind, consider the roots of Grand Prix racing: Wealthy European playboys and royalty; versus the roots of NASCAR: Beer swillin', ass-whoopin', ex-moonshining rednecks from the Southern US. What would you expect? WS PS: I'm born and bred in North Carolina, so don't bust me on the redneck comments. Man... I wish Jimmy Spencer would get hired by Hendrick to drive the 25 next year. I dunno how someone with so much promise 10 years ago ended up in such a junk ride... Jason On Sat, 27 Jul 2002 01:53:27 GMT, "Tom Osbon" <[email hidden]> wrote:

Now somebody is running backward without wrecking anybody. First time I saw it, I thought I was lucky avoiding him 3 times, later I realized he's never collided with anybody. I wonder what will be the next fashion? ;> Alex.

Hendrick's much to pc to hire Spencer, plus he's stated his next goal is to get some black drivers in the sport. Not sure why he hasn't progressed better, but his ride now is none to shabby. John "jason moyer" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...

LOL! Jon, for some reason unknown to me (and I do not have a shrink and maybe I need one :-), it takes a LOT for me to laugh a little. The only "comedy" (not saying yours was) that gets me are the spoofs on life (not that your post is meant to be). What a great post, especially that part about nick names!! I will never forget it! I am going to print it out :-) Unfortunately (maybe not!), I only have a 26.4 connection and looks like that is all I will have the rest of my life (I am not moving!) - so I can not play N2002 on-line (or anything but the occasional Unreal Tournament). I would LOVE to if I could, but I am not good enough off-line to even dare to - even if I had DSL or cable - and wouldn't think of unless I could kick butt with the AI. Looks like I am not missing a thing by not being able to play MP games over the Internet! I quit playing UT when the same classification (I will let you classify them, if you want to <g>) of people took over and ruined the game. I bet they've taken over and ruined the experience for most games. I will have to buy GPL2 now when it's available here in the States. Am sort of a new NASCAR fan and have fallen in love with it. -paul
