Has anyone actually driven Racing Legends?

Goy Larsen asked whether anyone had driven Racing Legends. Douglas Ellison said Chris West told him it was not yet drivable since it had been started from scratch, and joking 'two weeks' replies followed. Carl Ribbegaardh noted the Wests' long list of earlier commercial games.

I know some of you guys talk to the West's, so is there anything you *can* tell us about it ? I'm not asking people to break trusts or anything like that, but it would be awfully nice to hear from someone who has actually had their hands on a working copy, no matter how early it is in the development cycle, if possible Yes I know, I'm not one of those with the most faith in this project, but if they do make it this time around, I will be there, CC in hand, I don't mind paying for quality, as long as I actually get quality Beers and cheers (uncle) Goy http://www.theuspits.com "A man is only as old as the woman he feels........" --Groucho Marx--

I've got some inside information, but I can't share it. What I can say without breaking any trusts is "two weeks".
It will always be "two weeks" away from completion. Andi. "Internet User" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:3d4b5da5$[email hidden]...

Not meaning to rain on your parade or anything, but that's *exactly* the type of thing we used to get on the RSC boards a few months ago. And it was *always* wrong. I don't think anyone's expecting "we're going to have this, this and this in X weeks' time"[1], but this is slightly worrying. Having said that, I'm a *lot* happier about the chances of RL coming out than I was about WSC. For one thing, the Wests are willing to go on the forums and answer (some of) people's questions, which is always a good sign - remember it happened here with Rally Trophy. And ot having to mess about with Empire is surely a help in that department. [1] Though why not? Who *cares* if it gets out that (say) Ferrari are in discussions with the Wests? We all know they'd like to have a Ferrari licence anyway, so why is swirling rumour better than hard fact? There's far too much justifying any level of secrecy by "it's commercially sensitive, dontchaknow" - a great deal of it unnecessary. We need a sea change in the way these things work - so that a game maker can say "well, we're talking to Ferrari, but I don't know what the outcome will be for a while. Looks reasonably promising, though". -- "After all, a mere thousand yards... such a harmless little knoll, really" - Raymond Mays on Shelsley Walsh. But it should - and it could, if people wanted it to. -- "After all, a mere thousand yards... such a harmless little knoll, really" - Raymond Mays on Shelsley Walsh. Well, from a purely logical point of view it is absolutely impossible to prove that he's always wrong :-) Norbert

bad idea. if they said that it would take exactly 5 minutes until "WRL got the ferrari!" got thrown around the net, and then, when the game finally arrived, it'd get pounded for not having the promised Ferraris after all. -- Gunnar #31 SUCKS#015 Tupperware MC#002 DoD#0x1B DoDRT#003 DoD:CT#4,8 Kibo: 2 "a poster is a human being or the software equivalent"

Lol, two weeks till they announce that yes they are working on Racing Legends and no, they don't have an estimated release date yet? :) EA and Papy have to be laughing their butts off. I sure hope the Wests' prove them wrong, but so far their track record ain't that good. Don Burnette

Their track record? You mean track record of created games? F-16 Combat Pilot (Electronic Arts, 1989), 007: Licence To Kill (Atari, Domark, 1989), Super Space Invaders (C64, Domark, 1991), R.I.S.K. (C64, The Edge 1987), Cyberball (C64, Atari, Domark/Tengen 1990).... Just a fast search in Google. I'm sure there are plenty more :-) /Carl
