Well, I was running in 6th when Neil lost his throttle spring and was
plowed into by the 98 car, which took me and a few other cars out.
And then, it got better - I think I got the worst of it though because
the back of my car got pushed in.
To make matters worse, I was trying to avoid hitting the 19 car as we
exited the pits (hje was ina hurry to pass me, buyt he wasn't in a hurry
to proceed through the turn so I went up onto the track and got awarded
a move to the end of the longest line penalty.
My spotter was shouting to stay behind the 170 car (I WAS BEHIND THE
FUCKING 170 CAR), but the 170 car was ignoring his spotter who was
telling him to pass me. As a result, I got a black flag for passing
under the fucking yellow.
Then, on one of the restarts, the 98 car hit me AGAIN, and backed me
into the outside wall in turn 1.
I finished laps down in 8th or 9th place. I don't mind finishing in 8th
or 9th place, but it really torques me to be laps down, ESPECIALLY when
it's not my fault.
Opinion: Single file restarts don't do squat for us. All it does is
keep lapped cars from regaining a lap. Other than that, it's just like
running double-file restarts. Caution-after-fuckin-caution.
I think a lot of folks need to practice. A LOT! You can't come to ANY
of these tracks cold - the fast setup is just too twitchy when you're
not used to it. I think the fast setups are just fine as LONG AS YOU
PRACTICE!

RASCAR Michigan race recap
Drivers reviewed a caution-filled RASCAR race at Michigan, where a broken throttle spring caused an early pile-up and bogus black flags from the sim spoiled some races. Several incidents were discussed and apologised for, and attention turned to the next race at Bristol and the default brake balance.
online racing/leaguesNASCAR Racing 2002 Season
Automated summary.
I enjoyed the race until I spun, got a lap down. With no chance of getting
my lap back and the lightening popping outside it was time to retire. This
was my first race with RASCAR, other than the single file restarts all went
well with the race. Except my part in it..lol.

Do not lower the wheel lock
more than 1 or 2 clicks.
Lowering the wheel lock from what any setup was designed with, will make it
more twitchy in addition to cooking the tires. If you cannot turn a fixed
setup then work on a different line.
If your not playing with the wheel lock at all, and you still cannot hold
the car when braking or turning or both, up the wheel lock.
With any setup, and I think this comes from N2002 using the GPL engine, the
higher the wheel lock the better control you'll have with the brakes. The
disadvantage is the car will be harder to turn but for inexperienced
drivers, try upping the setting until you get comfortable with the car.

Anyone is free to look at the replay and look at lap 21 in the pits with
John and I.
John, whatever you did there was nothing to do with me. I exited my stall
calmly and immediatley moved to the outside of the pit lane in order to give
you plent of room. No hurry by me. I simply got up to the speed limit. I
didn't even spin my tires at all. You did though. You also moved into the
ouside lane a little and squeezed me. Once I crossed the line just ahead of
you I maintained my speed and stayed to the right without altering my line.
You moved from the inside and crossed behind me to the outside and out onto
the track instead of just falling in behind me and calmly following me out
onto the track and into the pace line. There was plenty of time after we
crossed the line to just fall in behind me before the lane narrowed.
I thought my exit from the pits was text book considering your position to
me.

No, I listened to my spotter. Had a computer lockup, had to reboot, and
re-entered the race. Soon as I hit the Drive button, it put me in the pits
and promptly gave me a end of longest line penalty for entering a closed
pit. Sign said GO at end of pit lane, I pulled out and got alongside pace
line, and spotter told me to stay behind ? car. Got behind it. Two more come
up. Says "let em by". I do. You come up. Spotter went crazy from there,
saying "pass the 43 car". Kept saying that til we went green. Somewhere I
may have screwed up, thereby causing this little snafu, but it wasn't
ingnoring my spotter that caused it.

John,
I assure you that you that I did not target you today :)
On the first incident, I hardly had any options. The restart commenced, and
out of no where Neil lost his Throttle spring right in front of me. I
commited high, and was on the brakes, but there just wasn't enough time to
avoid it. The upper lane closed off on me and that was that.
It wasn't intentional. Shit happens, throttle springs break.
As for pushing up a bit and making contact in turn 1, I apologized for that
on-track, after the race, and here in another thread. I was fighting with
slower cars at the restart, went into turn 1 a little unstable, and pushed
up a bit.
Sorry again.

I wasn't blaming you for anything, I just figured that you'd keep a
brisk pace as you exited the pits and you didn't. To avoid punting you,
I went up onto the track.

Yeah I know, I got screwed in the throttle spring thing and it went to
shit from there. I told everyone before I left that I was pissed off at

I was so pissed off after getting run over by somebody I never heard of on lap
2 or 3 I just disconnected before I said something about it. Rules on flamin ya
know :( Never even got a sorry or fuck you or anything. Sorry for being part
of the first yellow but this cat didnt even slow for turn 3 and hit me square
in the ass putting me in the wall and ending my day.
Dan
I had the same type of thing else where. Glenn Read's (#58) spotter was
telling him to let me (#48) by as he had to go to the end of the longest
line for merging too early, but my spotter wasn't telling me to pass him. So
every time he slowed down, I slowed down. Eventually Glenn told me to pass
him using chat, so I did.
The reason I know this is because Glenn & I talked about it on the phone
afterwards.
So it looks like there may be a bit of a bug in N2002

Worst things was, I was starting to feel fed up with all the early yellows
as I was well on the pace and was eager to get into a fight with Ging who
had moved up to one behind me. I also remember thinking 'Thank God I qualled
well up so as to avoid all the mess continually going on behind'. You don't
expect the leading pack to screw the restart. Errr ....
When the spring went I tried to hook the sole of the magic racing slippers
under the pedal plate to get some rudimentary control to take it safely up
into the wall and out of the way. Couldn't do it and such a sudden slowing
left the other fast guys like Larry and John with nowhere to go. My BRD
pedals have arrived and as I do 4 league races from Fri to Mon I thought I'd
fit them and practise on them next week. Guess tonight's HOG race will be on
a new pedal system :)
Sorry again - If I could've done differently, I would.

I saw some of this too.
I was waiting for cars to 'get going', but they eventually told me to pass.
My spotter never once told me to go around them, and I know for a fact they
should have been in front of me because I had just left the pits.
It didn't alter the outcome because I think it wsa mainly lapped cars, but
it was confusing as hell sometimes.
I wonder if this wasn't a bug in single file restarts ?

Lap 3 going into turn 3 somebody I'm not familiar with ran over me. Didn't
appear to slow or attempt to miss. I don't have replay John but should be lap
3.
Dan
I'm pretty sure that would be me you're talking about. Hopefully I get
a chance to defend myself. I'm not quite sure what happened there.
From my perspective, we were both slowing down for the turn, when all
of a sudden you were RIGHT in front of me. I'm wondering if there was
a lag issue or something, because it really took me by surprise.
Unfortunately, I didn't handle that situation well, with obvious
results. I would have apologized, but with my setup I really don't
have convenient access to the keyboard. Hopefully you'll accept my
apology at this point.
Odd thing is that the game didn't count an incident against me.
Strange...

I don't adjust *anything* on the setups, preferring instead to take the
"fixed setup" thing to heart. I don't think I do too badly if I can
manage to stay out of everyone else's carp...

I was behind Jan and saw him smoke the left front braking so I was going under
him. Of course seeing that I checked my mirror and saw you about 20 car lengths
back. Next I knew I got slammed and around I went.

Of course. But please realize that autochat is important for merging, stating
your intentions (pass low etc) so get that keyboard closer. Most RASCAR'ers
will quickly say sorry...or damn...something anything. I have always apologized
for my mistakes ASAP....doesnt really help the one I hit but I make it clear
that I AM sorry and it was not intentional.

I watched the replay last night from both our perspectives, and it
sure makes me look bad... :) Watching the replay from my cockpit, I
noticed Jan smoking, but I never saw that during the race. That tells
me that I must have been distracted, and then didn't respond properly
to your move. (sigh)

LOL!
I can't be the only one wondering how THIS one is going to go over :)
I've already practiced 1000 laps there since Saturday. Oddly, my Lap times
have NOT improved much. Damn!

Yup, find a hole and cruise. Chances are, however, that EVERYONE will
probably be involved in at least 1 incident this Sat., so just prepare
yourself for it and don't get to ticked off when it happens. Gonna be
fun though.

LOL. Last Bristol I got hit from behind UNDER YELLOW. Maybe not racing back to
line will help. YEAH RIGHT :)

No problem man......shit happens. I sure didn't handle it well either. Should
have stayed and fussed : )

Brake balance on the default setup is hopeless for my wheel/pedal setup. I
got the use of maybe 1/4 of my full brake travel before lock-up occurs. This
is another setting which, IMHO, should be adjustable to fit the rig the
simmer uses (as steering ratio is), even under fixed setup rules.
My setup and the fact I wear gloves to drive make it awkward for me to use
this. I've got to do something about that. Perhaps during my next holiday.

Ofline Testing.
I did 400 laps Saturday night.
Did 200 Sunday Morning.
Did another 200 Sunday night.
Did another 200 or so on Monday, which was a day off for me.
Or somewhere around that.
It don't take long at Bristol to rack them up.
And you may laugh about Mikey's commercial about being at the wrong track,
but I was :)
I forgot it was a NIGHT race :(

since I can't tell the difference. It might be like Bristol on a
