Tom Pabst shows retextured Darlington for NASCAR Racing 2002
Tom Pabst posted a screenshot of his retextured Darlington track for NR2002, which drew praise and anticipation of a download. ymenard said he raced with all graphics off and felt Papyrus no longer cared about scalability, which led to lighthearted banter about Canada and Quebec.
Automated summary.
Mine looks EXACTLY like that. <G> Just kidding. Nice job, look forward to seeing the download link
at the US Pits.

No! There weren't any wrinkles in the fenders, no missing hoods(bonnets
to the Brits), No torn off bumpers...OBVIOUSLY, if I had been there, there
would be many many more torn up cars...........

Hmmm normally my Darlington looks like me, sitting in the pits awaiting the
team to stop fixing my wrecked car ;)
(Seriously Tom, I race with all the graphics off, and I'll have to say
Papyrus has stopped optimising or caring about scalability).

Non-socialists have the opportunity to purchase new hardware to run graphics
turned on. ;)
At least you still have the Expos. =P

Nah!!! I like racing in this sort of twilight-zone pseudo world, where only
the track exists that floats in space. I did that on the NROS even, I had
every 1-9 graphics at Off. Well coupled with the fact that anyway it
wouldn't run over 10fps with any option "on"!

I don't think they actually sell "computer hardware" in Canada. Do they?

Scott wussed out of the Albany LAN two years in a row, so I never had the
chance.
But nah, I'm not a groupie! In fact I have my own fan-club!. Yes, the
ymenard-appreciation community, where dreams flows, often flowing on alcohol
but that's a different thing altogether ;-)

Canada? I live in Qubec!! <eh>
To answer your question ( ;) ), sales of computer hardware are illegal yes
indeed, instead we barter beever furs (hmmm beever furs lol) in exchange for
those parts.

Opportunity, yes. Finances, no... I run with most of the graphics off on my
system, too.

I dunno, N2002 is beautiful and runs great on less-than-premium
hardware.
1.4gHz athlon and a geforce ti200 = over 30 frames everywhere at
1280x1024x16 with full graphic details sans antistropic filtering.
Not bad for technology that was a year old when the sim came out.

Smuggling parts into Canada can be difficult as well.
Anyone ever tried putting a ti4600 in a condom and
swallowing it? ouch.
Getting it out again is an entirely different matter...

I swallow *nothing* that's contained within a condom! :-)
