"Upgrade" is not the word I would use unless your problems with Win95
are so severe that you are about to slash your wrists.

"Why" not? I've heard some good things about the X-like multiple
workspaces, and if I remember correctly, at last macros.

Those alone, and FAT32 (I'm still using OSR1, and yes I have big hard
drives, and yes I hate to have multiple partitions all the way up to
drive M: ), could make me want to get Win98. Is there any reason I
shouldn't?

The GPL demo does not seem to work on my 98 (final release). It is the
static noise problem just before getting in the car.

I am wondering if this is because my sound card does not seem to support
16bit dma or is this a known problem?

No...not all all.
Just that I live by the adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Or, in the case of Win95, "If it appears to be unbroken for 4 weeks
straight, don't fix it!"

I consider Win98 to be The Mother of All Patches that Microsoft have
been putting together since W95 was released, so one day, if all else
fails, I'll apply the patch. :o)

I have a similar problem with my AWE-64 Gold (which DOES support
16-bit DMA transfers, of course).

Doesn't work with my CL Voodoo2 (latest drivers) either. Animation v.
choppy.

Worked fine in '95, though.

I totally agree with Bruce and the FAT32 is available already in Win95.

Only if you've got 95b and Microsoft haven't released non-OEM version of
that in UK.
