The best race film ever and a must see for owners of +ADw-br+AD4- Grand Prix Legends. After seeing this movie I appreciate the effort Papyrus +ADw-br+AD4- put into GPL. In this show they could be at a certain track and after just +ADw-br+AD4- seeing one corner or straightaway owners of GPL would know what track these +ADw-br+AD4- drivers were racing at. Papyrus really duplicated these tracks extremely +ADw-br+AD4- well. I just have to laugh at all the race programs that came out before and +ADw-br+AD4- after GPL boasting of exact tracts and all. GPL really did it. If anyone has +ADw-br+AD4- never seen this movie and own GPL or just enjoy racing, it is a must see. It most +ADw-br+AD4- certainly wasn't used in 1967 -- and for the same reason the movie +ADw-br+AD4- depicts: it was just too rough. To counteract the G-forces of the Monza +ADw-br+AD4- banking and stop the cars from bottoming out on the seams and ripples +ADw-br+AD4- (poorly cast concrete), the long-travel suspensions of the late +ADw-br+AD4- 50s-early 60s had to be snubbed down right to the stops, and the cars +ADw-br+AD4- were simply unmanageable at speed everywhere else on teh track. The +ADw-br+AD4- drivers protested long and loud, and threatened to boycott any proposed +ADw-br+AD4- race at Monza that included the banking. Monza's management, at the +ADw-br+AD4- urging of the Italian Auto Club, gave in. +ADw-br+AD4- +ADw-p+AD4-Frankenheimer thought the banking was just too cool an element to leave +ADw-br+AD4- out, so he got the weeds growing out of the seams trimmed, and shot some +ADw-br+AD4- footage on the banks, including, of course, the unfortunate demise of +ADw-br+AD4- Yves Montand. If you watch closely, you'll see that none of the actual +ADw-br+AD4- race footage includes the banking -- only the movie cars are on it (and +ADw-br+AD4- the F2 cars running at reduced speeds didn't have the bottoming problems +ADw-br+AD4- of F1 cars at full chat). +ADw-br+AD4- +ADw-p+AD4-BB +ADw-br+AD4APA-/div+AD4-
