Ok, just got a new, big table to put the new, big PII-400 w/19" monitor, and
alas, due to poor planning, the GP1 wheel I was using doesn't fit, due to a
lip (support frame really) about 1 1/2" from the edge, that's about 1 1/2"
or 1 3/4" in height.  Measured a different one to see if the wheel would
fit, then ordered a sturdier table without measuring.

Now, considering that I was already having a decent amount of trouble with
controlling F1RS with the GP1 (with CH Pedals), I'm sorta thinking about
just going back to the CH Flightstick Pro and the pedals to do my driving,
always got a "weird" feel outta the GP1.  Seemed ok in N2, worse in GP2 and
F1RS, and never entirely sure it was better than the joystick, and maybe
subconciously got this table as an excuse to ditch the GP1 for the old
joystick setup or a new wheel :-)

But, I might be able to swing around another $100 outta the "financial
supervisor" but not much more due to the $3000+ PC purchase.  Which probably
leaves me with nothing but the TM NASCAR Pro.  Kinda been wanting to get
this anyways, since the CH Pedals don't have much travel or resistance, and
the Gas and Brake don't have different resistances.  And seems that the
wheel is nicer, and I think has greater travel than the GP1 wheel.

And it looks like the mounting system at least has a shot with the new
table - will the mounts go over the metal frame?  Basically a typical Office
Depot 6' table, one of the sturdy ones, folding legs, with a metal support
frame around the underside (approx. 1-1/2" from the table edge at front, and
about 1-3/4" in height, only about 1/4" or less in depth) ?

Or, any other good wheels in the $100-$150 price range, that would mount on
this kind of table?

Well, if that's the case then fine :-)  But if you want to hang onto the GP1 for
a little longer, try mounting it to the table with 1" wide velcro and ditch the
clamps altogether.  I got sick of the annoying clamps, and pasted the soft side
of about 6" x 1" velcro to my desk.  Then I put the other side of the velcro on
the bottom of the wheel, and when I want to race, I just press it onto the desk
and go.  When I'm done, I tear it off.  It works fantastically.  It is also
quite a bit more stable than those clamps, actually.  maybe that will give you a
better feel from your GP1.  It did for me.

Good luck.

I also noticed that the GP1 was extremely twitchy in F1rs.  I renewed my
effort to clean the wheel pot of my old T2, put it back in place of my
GP1, and voila!  I can control my Williams again.

I tried everything -- turning the wheel sensitivity to 100%, then all
the way back down to 20% -- then went so far as to re-flash my BIOS and
even bought an ACM game card to solve the problem..... duh... I guess
getting rid of the GP1 was the way to go, at least as far as F1rs is
concerned.

I have used a GP1 with F1RS nearly every day since purchasing the sim in
November.

I do nothing special except use TM's Pro Panel for calibration and change the
bungee frequently. I also downloaded the "deadzone" fix for Win95 games.

BTW, if you have not tried the new bungee material from TM, email the service
dept and ask them to send you the replacement kit. I've been using it for a few
weeks now, even had one of my ham fisted, wanna-be a dirt track driver buddies
come by and try it out. Usually I have to replace the bungee after he spends
just an hour or so on the thing, this time it's still tight a week later.
