Nurburgring - What happened?

Nurburgring - What happened?

A while ago there was some talk of the original Nurburgring being converted
over from GPL to other sims.  Did this ever happen or was it cancelled due
to legal issues with Papyrus?

Apparently its still going (for F1-2002 and SCGT?) but the guy thats making
it wants it to be 100% perfect so its gonna take quite a while!!!

There'll be a version out in the next couple of weeks for SCGT and Racer -
http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43730.

There'll then be another Racer version in a few months (or however long it
takes) with improved accuracy and higher detail. We're messing about with
the track in MAX matching it up to GPS data from motorbike laps, trying to
correct for the distortion in the original GPL track.

SBDT are apparently making the F1 2002 version but I don't know anything
about that.

I think it's too long of a course.  NR only supports tracks up to a certain
length.

I have heard that too, but it begs the question, if N4/N2002 are
based on the GPL engine, why did they impose an artificial track length
limit?    And furthermore, if they added code to specifically block longer
tracks, wouldn't a savvy Hex-editor type person be able to find that data
and excise it?  (isn't it wonderful being programming illiterate and having
all sorts of preconceptions about others abilities!)

I totally agree Dave, but if Dave N and a couple of the other guys over
here says it can't be done, then it can't be done.....yet :-)

Beers and cheers
